Wikipedia - UAE Pro League

The UAE Pro League (Arabic: دوري المحترفين الإماراتي), also known as the ADNOC Pro League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the highest level of the Emirati football league system.

The first team to win the title was Al Orouba (Sharjah), whilst Al Ain has the record with 14 league titles to their name. Fourteen clubs compete in the league that operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the First Division League.

The League was founded in 1973 as the UAE Football League. The first 1973–74 season was a "trial" championship but was declared official by the UAE FA in 2001. In February 2007, the Pro League Committee was formed, and became the organising body of the league.

The **ADNOC Pro League**, the top tier of association football in the United Arab Emirates, has evolved into one of the most competitive and financially robust leagues in Asia. Featuring 14 clubs, the 2024-2025 season promises high-octane drama as the traditional powerhouses of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain battle for domestic supremacy.

### The Title Contenders
All eyes are on **Al Wasl**, the defending champions who ended a long drought last season by clinching a historic double. Under the lights of the Zabeel Stadium, they will look to maintain their dominance, but the path is fraught with challengers. **Al Ain**, the reigning kings of the continent after their 2024 AFC Champions League triumph, remain the team to beat in terms of raw quality and international pedigree. Meanwhile, **Shabab Al Ahli** and **Sharjah FC** have bolstered their squads significantly over the summer, aiming to bring the trophy back to their respective fanbases with aggressive, attacking football.

### Stars to Watch
The UAE Pro League continues to be a destination for world-class talent and rising regional stars. **Soufiane Rahimi** (Al Ain) remains the league’s most clinical talisman following his heroics in the Champions League and the Olympics. He is joined by local icon **Fabio Lima** (Al Wasl), whose creative vision remains unparalleled. Keep an eye on the influx of "Resident Players"—young foreign talents under 21—who have added a new layer of pace and technical flair to the competition, making the league a scouting hotspot for European clubs.

### The Stakes and Format
The league operates on a standard double round-robin format, with each team playing 26 matches. The stakes are higher than ever this year; the top finishers secure spots in the revamped **AFC Champions League Elite** and **AFC Champions League Two**, offering clubs a chance at continental glory and significant prize money. At the other end of the table, the fight for survival is equally fierce, as the bottom two teams face relegation to the First Division.

### The Fan Experience
Matches are held in some of the region's most architecturally stunning venues, such as the **Hazza bin Zayed Stadium** in Al Ain and **Al Nahyan Stadium** in Abu Dhabi. With kick-off times usually scheduled for the cooler evening hours, the atmosphere is family-friendly yet passionate. For fans following from abroad or locally, the season offers a unique blend of technical South American flair, tactical European coaching, and the grit of Emirati spirit. Whether you are a tactical aficionado or a casual supporter, the UAE Pro League is a theater of rising ambitions.
